Leading a new way of brewing
Booster is a revolutionary way to brew coffee. It is a tool used in a flat-bottomed filter cup that can increase the extraction rate and speed up the flow rate.
No need to change the filter cup, just add Booster under the filter paper
By having it sit between the filter and the cup, we greatly increase the contact points, exactly where we want the majority of the coffee to flow through the filter, increasing the flow rate in a very uniform manner and improving extraction, avoiding channeling.
Even at very high extraction rates, the brewed coffee doesnât taste bitter or dry, allowing you to grind finer for a sweeter, richer, and better coffee.
Booster was developed by Sitarist and Matt Winton (2021 World Brewers Championship Champion) to achieve the optimal contact surface to free space ratio and pattern.
Details
For flat bottom filter bowls with 45 mm diameter bottom (most flat bottom filter bowls like Orea V3, Kalita 155 and 185, Fellow, ...) Can be used with any flat bottom filter paper.
Material Stainless steel AISI 304, food grade gold plated
Packaging Individually packed. The packaging is made of paper packaging made from organic, recyclable and compostable materials.
How to use
Wash with mild detergent and hot water before first use.
How to brew with Booster
- Place the Booster into the flat bottom filter cup, making sure it is on the bottom or bottom groove, in a horizontal and flat position, parallel to the bottom of the filter cup.
- Place the coffee filter into the filter cup
- Rinse the filter paper, making sure the bottom of the filter paper is in contact with the Booster.
- Add coffee powder and brew

How to clean
After brewing, throw away the filter paper, rinse it in the filter cup with hot water, and finally wash it with detergent after it cools down naturally at room temperature.
More details
Booster is the result of more than a year of research and development by Sibarist and Matt Winton. They conducted extensive testing and continuously improved the size, diameter and material of the holes to obtain the best version to achieve the most even flow and enhance the extraction effect of each brew.
Matte : âWhen I first started brewing with a Stagg Dripper, I could never get the fine grind and high extraction results that others were talking aboutâthey were always bitterâand I couldnât understand why. I asked around and someone told me about an article by Johnathon Gagne that mentioned putting a mesh screen under the filter paper in the Stagg Dripper. I decided to give it a try and was amazed at the difference it made! I eventually started testing different diameters and pore sizes of the mesh screen and realized that the magic of this technique wasnât in putting the filter paper on the dripper, but in increasing the points of contact between the filter paper and the mesh bottom, and increasing the flow rate that way.
We found a good mesh screen size that greatly increased flow rate and eliminated clogging when brewing dense, light roasted coffees! Yes, now I am able to brew as others have suggested without getting the bitter results I did before because the flow is more even and quicker and doesn't get blocked!
I now use this mesh screen on all my tumblers including Orea, Stagg, Kalita, April to completely open up the flow and provide consistent results without clogging! I have tested the Booster with different types of filter papers with good results, including Kalita, Sibarist FAST, Sibarist B3, April, etc. It improves the filter cup very well in all these situations.
Even if we use the No by-pass brewing method - the flow rate is relatively slow and the brewing time is extended, the final brewing effect will still not be bitter, but the extraction rate will be higher, but there will be no clogging and uneven extraction! "
