OREA SENSORY WINE GLASS
Glass has a unique charm. OREA is well aware of this because OREA is one of the first brands to make coffee sensory cups. Before these coffee sensory cups were launched,
We often use wine glasses for coffee because of their beauty and versatility . Many people love natural wines for their characteristic acidity and fresh aroma—reminiscent of some of the best modern coffees. As wine and coffee processing techniques have become increasingly similar over time, a unique glass was needed to celebrate both. The OREA Sensory Wine Glass will become the glass we use to enjoy our favorite wines and coffees.
THE SHAPE
People are obsessed with finding the perfect glass shape. Most wine glasses have very low bases.
This creates a heavy feel and makes it awkward to hold.
The designer did this to create a shallow wine layer.
But this compromises ease of use.
The wine glass feels like it might fall out of your hand at any time when you hold or shake it, which makes it uncomfortable to use. OREA's design has a higher curve and a more balanced feel, which improves
Comfort.
A real treat! Cheers!
THE FOCUS
We like the shape of the red wine glass, compared to the narrow glass,
They are roomier and more comfortable to hold.
But a narrower glass directs aromas more directly to the nose, allowing that heady red wine (or coffee) to shine even brighter.
They also reduce the oxygen content in the cup,
Prevent the vitality of red wine from being lost too quickly.
We want to have the best of both worlds, so we designed a
A glass that has both.
Spacious grip,
But the cup is very narrow.
Punt
Our glasses feature a large depression (the groove) in the middle, creating a significant negative space that helps us achieve a narrow, shallow interior while maintaining a wide, comfortable exterior. The groove also serves as a visual reminder of where to pour the wine, ensuring the perfect amount of wine in the glass for a perfect sensory experience. The groove also acts as an aerator, as we forcefully pour the wine directly onto the groove. This further oxygenates the wine, making it more vibrant.
science
With this cup shape, we've created the perfect environment for a truly sensory experience. As you sip, the base of the cup completely envelops your nose, squeezing and constricting the space within. The wide shape creates an illusion, but in reality, the cup is much narrower—perfect for highlighting the delicate aromas of natural wines and specialty coffees. Furthermore, the increased surface area at the base keeps cold drinks cooler longer and helps coffee cool faster, quickly reaching the ideal drinking temperature for a superior taste.
quality
Our glassware is hand-blown by skilled artisans in our factory in Indonesia, where we've been producing glassware for approximately four years. We use laboratory-grade borosilicate glass, which is more heat-resistant and durable than regular lime-lime glass. Each piece undergoes over ten steps of processing, care, and quality control before being packaged in a sturdy box and ready for its new owner. Our prices are designed to offer value for these exquisite pieces, which are handcrafted by artisans, with each worker producing approximately 20 pieces per day.
harmonious
How do you create a perfect symphony in the palm of your hand? A comfortable shape, perfectly balanced weight, the incredibly light borosilicate glass, the reduced volume and narrowness created by the concave base, and the visual pleasure of holding, swirling, and contemplating the wine in this glass—this is true harmony. A feeling of joy, a sense of tranquility—this glass is a treasure trove to be enjoyed anytime, anywhere.
Handmade
These glasses are meticulously handcrafted from laboratory-grade borosilicate glass at our long-term partner factory in Indonesia. Because they're hand-formed (rather than molded), some marks and textures from the production process are unavoidable. Each glass is slightly different, and we love that.
